Empowering our Alutiiq people to reach their full potential often means providing the tools for immediate career growth. For many Koniag Shareholders and Descendants, the traditional four-year degree isn’t the only path to success.
The Koniag Education Foundation (KEF) offers two distinct opportunities for those pursuing specialized training or professional advancement: the Vocational Scholarship and the Career Development Grant. Unlike our general scholarships, these applications are Open Continuously, meaning you can apply when the opportunity arises for you.
Key Requirements for All Applicants
To keep the process streamlined, ensure you have the following documents ready for your online application:
- Personal Essay: Highlighting your career goals and how this training will help you achieve them.
- Professional Resume: Detailing your work history and any prior training.
- Proof of Program Cost: An invoice or official documentation showing the cost of the training.
- Letter of Recommendation: From a mentor, employer, or teacher (non-family).
- Professional Photo: A high-quality headshot for our records.
Why “Open Continuously”?
We know that vocational opportunities and professional workshops don’t always follow a fall/spring semester schedule. By keeping these grants open year-round, KEF ensures that you can apply for funding exactly when your training begins.
Note: Please allow at least 3 to 4 weeks for processing before your payment deadline. In accordance with IRS regulations, all funds are sent directly to the training provider or institution.
